Internal salt water bathWelcome to the ‘salt water bath.’  I have to laugh because most people think I am talking about a hot soak in an Epsom bath.  What I am referring to is the ‘internal salt water bath.’  It is a tool to carry in your toolbox…might just as well replace a colonic, but there are differences.  It is inexpensive although the quality of salt used is more expensive than the table salt.

A fitting name is the Internal Salt Water Bath as you are internally grateful for drinking salt water to bath your digestive tract.  Since the 1990s, I have used it for many years successfully on its own.  Thank you Stanley Burroughs for sharing it.  The salt water bath is a part of his Master Cleanse which I have completed a number of times…one should buy the book before attempting the Master Cleanse because most people are not doing it correctly.  The people are following a one page Master Cleanse or Lemon Detox Diet or Lemonade Cleanse.

Note: February 6, 2026 – Just learned that Beyoncé used it to loose weight for her role in Dreamgirls. When I first did the Master Cleanse, it was the one page document and there had been many famous people who did it, but what I mean did it, is only 10 days.

I coach people through the Internal Salt Water Bath whether on its own (clients with chronic inflammation and cancer) or as part of the Liver Gallbladder Flush, the Master Cleanse, 7 Day Raw Food Detox and the Nutritional Cleanse and Replenishing Program BUT your priority should be to create a healthy lifestyle of good quality real food and nourishment otherwise you may create a yo-yo effect especially if it is about weight.

Just want to mention something quickly.  The Master Cleanse has the reputation of only being 10 days.  This is not the best guidance.  After reading Burroughs’ book, my next Master Cleanse was 40 days.  The healthy lifestyle or what you do thereafter with your eating habits and attitude, will make the world of difference. Our body is suppose to cleanse itself regularly and naturally but for some, the quality of the food and lifestyle does not lend itself to proper elimination.  Toxins/chemicals are one of the root causes of disease. CLEANSING AID: INTERNAL SALT WATER BATHING

By: Stanley Burroughs, The Master Cleanser with Special Needs and Problems

As it is necessary to bathe the outside of our bodies, so it is with the inside. Do not take enemas or colonics at any time during the cleansing diet or afterwards. They are unnecessary and can be extremely harmful.

There is a much superior method of cleansing the colonic tract without the harmful effects of customary colonics and enemas. This method will cleanse the entire digestive tract while the colonics and enemas will only reach the colon or a small part of it.  Colonics can be expensive while our salt water method is not.

One quart approximately equals 1 liter (more like 1100 ml). And 1 teaspoon equals 5 ml.

salt4DIRECTIONS: Prepare a full quart of lukewarm water and add two level (rounded for Canadian quart) teaspoons of uniodized sea salt. Do not use ordinary iodized salt as it will not work properly. Drink the entire quart of salt and water first thing in the morning. This must be taken on an empty stomach. The salt and water will not separate but will stay intact and quickly and thoroughly wash the entire tract in about one hour. Several eliminations will likely occur. The salt water has the same specific gravity as the blood, hence the kidneys cannot pick up the water and the blood cannot pick up the salt. This may be taken as often as needed for proper washing of the entire digestive system.

If the salt water does not work the first time, try adding a little more or a little less salt until the proper balance is found; or possibly take extra water with or without salt. This often increases the activity. Remember, it can do no harm at any time. The colon needs a good washing, but do it the natural way – the salt water way.

It is quite advisable to take the herb laxative tea at the night to loosen, then the salt water each morning to wash it out. For Master Cleanse: If not some reason the salt water cannot be taken in the morning, then the herb laxative tea must be taken night and morning.

Drink fluid within 20 minutes and use a straw if the water tastes too salty for you.  Put in some boiling water to dissolve the salt then add your regular water.  Ideally, you want to have the water temperature at body temperature – do the wrist test.  Drop a drop of water on your wrist.  If your wrist feels nothing, then it is just right.  Have a light meal (salad, veggies, etc.) the night before and don’t eat late.  Go to bed at a decent hour, let’s say by 11 pm. Once you learn and experience it, you can add it to your tool box of keeping not only the colon clean but the entire intestinal tract. For more information, support, and questions, please contact me.
