The power of the mind is not only the placebo effect in a research study. It is much much more.
What is a placebo? Perhaps just a sugar pill. So much more and opens up the idea that the power of the mind is so much more.
Power of the Mind with a Placebo
It is often the case when people reference a placebo they say “Ah, it was just a placebo.” If you think it works, it may work.
Often times when people are purchasing supplements, they may very well believe that it is going to work so it may work as such. In time, the placebo may wear off when the mind goes elsewhere. It still made a difference.
According to Merriam-Webster dictionary:
Doctors doing research on new treatments for disease often give one group a placebo while a second group takes the medication. Since those in the placebo group usually believe they’re getting the real thing, their own hopeful attitude may bring about improvement in their condition. Thus, for the real drug to be considered effective, it must produce even better results than the placebo. Placebos have another use as well. A doctor who suspects that a patient’s physical symptoms are psychologically produced may prescribe a placebo in the hope that mentally produced symptoms can also be mentally cured.

If you believe, the power of the mind will be a factor in what unfolds.

Examples of Placebos
Similar clinical studies showed that nearly 7 out of 10 people who took TEPEZZA [medication] saw improvements in double vision, compared to 3 out of 10 who took placebo.—Emily Cegielski, Flow Space, 6 May 2026
Two-thirds of the children in the second phase will get the vaccine, and the rest will get a placebo.

Not being able to test against a placebo makes the study of these drugs much more difficult.

Believe in the Power of the Mind
First step, believe that your mind has the power to make things happen. Wholeheartedly with all your heart, the mind has power. The one direction is to bring about positive outcomes while the other direction can bring about unfortunate circumstances.
Let’s begin with the unfortunate. I knew someone who got cancer when she was 48 (breast cancer). A question I just had to ask was “Did your mother dying of breast cancer at the age of 48 have anything to do with your cancer?” She said she thinks so. This played on her for almost 30 years that it would happen to her.
Is cancer genetic? I seriously believe not. There is much power to what we think about consciously or unconsciously. Be open to the idea that what we think about we manifest.
Any thought that occupies our mind becomes true for us and tends to turn into action.” –
Manifesting What We Want
Manifesting is such a glorious subject to talk about. In my book, I shared my story ‘Turkey in the Park’ as an example of manifesting out of thin air. I really didn’t see the turkey manifest out of thin air and I don’t think anyone else did either. It was a Sunday morning and I was leading my walk club around the area. Upon our return to Wells Hill Park, the walkers noticed a frozen turkey in a Loblaw bag (the Loblaw store is right across the busy street) on the ground in the middle of our stretching area. This area is straddled by two paths, one the sidewalk going south from St. Clair West and the other going through the small park to the other side street. By the time I caught up to the group, they had been chattering on why this happened. When I took in the scene, I immediately knew that turkey was meant for me.
Here came the test. My dog Shadow stayed home that day because I was to join the group for some tea and conversation. So I moved the turkey to the bench so the one who laid it down could come back and find it (hehehe). For one hour and a half, I sat and forgot about the turkey. While on my way across the street, the thought ‘turkey on the bench’ popped in and voila, the turkey still remained on the bench. Quietly, I headed for the bench picked up my turkey and brought it home. The universe would not have a live turkey just show up…that would really confuse everyone. There is a longer story…in the book.
The ‘how to manifest’ is a grand learning but first, agree that you are manifesting all the time whether you know/believe it or not. The Law of Attraction sounds familiar? The documentary ‘The Secret’ rings a bell? At times, there is a few points missing…one being uniqueness from journey to discovery.
Step forward and plant your feet. Now what?!
“There are a lot of things in life we can’t control. It’s hard, especially when you’re a child, to feel like you have control over anything. Like you can change anything. But you can control your body and you can control your mind. That might not sound like a lot, but it’s very powerful. It can change everything.”

Power of the Mind and Healing
Best to think of the mind as an instrument of power. If you want to run, your mind decides on running and the body follows.
As unique as we all are in our thoughts and experiences, we still have a potential to heal ourselves and to create what we want to see in our world…but there are the many reasons certain emotions and feelings come into the equation. The all powerful ego has only the power we give it. A change of mind needs to happen. Some knowledge to comprehend it. Some belief in these both.
“Healing our mind is crucial, because otherwise our problems, which are beginningless, become endless. We may use medicine or some other external means to heal a particular disease, but the disease will return unless we heal our mind. If we do nothing to heal our mind, there is always the danger that we will again create the cause of the disease, that we will repeat the actions that caused us to become physically unhealthy. We will then experience the same illness in future lives, or even in this life.
Curing disease through external means is not the best solution because the cause of disease is not external. Bacteria, viruses, spirits, and so forth may act as external conditions for disease, but disease itself has no external cause. In the West, however, the external conditions for a particular disease are usually regarded as its cause. The cause of disease is not external; it is in the mind – or we could say, it is the mind. Disease is caused by our self-cherishing, ignorance, anger, attachment, and other delusions and by the negative actions motivated by these negative thoughts. Our negative thoughts and actions leave imprints on our mind, which then manifest as disease or other problems. The imprints also make it possible for disturbing thoughts and negative actions to arise again.
A physical sign necessarily has a physical cause, but the physical cause arises because of the inner cause, the imprints left on the mind by negative thoughts and actions. To fully understand disease, we have to understand the inner cause, which is the actual cause of disease and which also creates the physical conditions for disease. As long as we ignore its inner cause, we have no real cure for disease. We must study its development and recognize that its cause is in the mind. Once we recognize this, we will automatically understand that the healing of disease also has to come from the mind. (p. 4-5)”

Healthy Thoughts
With pen and paper, you can write down what feelings come up in your day. There should be a story as to why you have the feelings you have. #feelingsmatter
Recently, I visited a friend. Now her cupboard door has notes on it…positive affirmations or another way to look at it is correct thinking. At times we don’t always voice what we are thinking but it is there and does matter. #thoughtsmatter
There are some things a foot in the world where the mind is wonderfully manipulated to react, to buy, to order, to think about, to focus on. #marketing #movies #games
After reading this, what is the one thing you learned or can add?
The power of the mind is for everyone…all…you have it too. POWER guided to be used for good to bring happiness and good health.
With choice, let’s chat about what a world looks like with you in it, and how your thoughts make a difference, always.
Flowers seem to make people smile inside! Hugs make the heart sing quietly! The blue sky brings a sense of happiness! #joy #peace
Always up to you!
Best of health always,
