Diabetes Diabetic Neuropathy and Auum Omega 3This information on Omega 3s and Nervous System lights me up as many doctors say if you have a problem with your nervous system, it is serious.  This article is meant to inspire not to be dire.  With that in mind, a little information can be the initial step to take action whether that is preventative or reactive (already diagnosed with a nervous system condition.)

Do you or someone you know have neuropathy or a nerve condition OR are you a practitioner that assists people with these types of conditions?  If yes, the research will be for you.

Did you know you can grow back your nerves?  Which would lead me to believe that we may be able to grow back teeth and limbs.  Why not, we grow back hair and nails.  Do we limit our abilities by our limited beliefs and because science has yet figured it out?  smiles  Placebo effect!! is a real result.

  15. diabetic neuropathy
  16. migraine
  17. multiple sclerosis or MS
  18. neurofibromatosis
  19. Parkinson’s disease
  20. pinched nerve
  21. polio
  22. restless legs syndrome
  23. down syndrome
  24. fibromyalgia

  32. stroke
  33. and many more, name or no name

Where there is pain there are nerves – pain nerves also related to ‘pain in the butt’ or ‘gets on my nerves’.  In the case of chronic pain, this means ongoing or not resolved and it means inflammation.  Every disease has an inflammatory component hence the ending ‘itis’ on the end of disease names, such as, colitis, hepatitis, and optic neuritis.

What is the Nervous System

The nervous system is a highway of nerves (nerve cells).  There are different nervous systems such as central nervous system and sympathetic nervous system.  There are different kinds of nerves from sensory nerves to motor nerves.  They could be named by their location such as cranial nerves (head) or spinal nerves (back).  From your head to your toes, you have nerves sending signals whether you ‘think the muscle to move’ or the ‘heart beats automatically’.  Yes, your heart is beating and it is called the autonomic nervous system.  Your body, the miracle.

But what happens when nerves are injured or damaged?

Anyone who has had a head injury (concussion) or spinal injury (paraplegic) can tell you that their lives change.  But what happens if your nerves shrink or get damaged by other forces such as from medications or other toxic substances, whereby chemotherapy, a cancer treatment, is one of those forces.

Nerve damage happens 100% of the time with this cancer treatment ( as shared by a cancer specialist and researcher).  The condition is called ‘chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy‘ CIPN which means the treatment is toxic and causes the nerves to shrink most noticeably and measurable in the peripheral areas of the body – the hands and feet – but not limited to.  It happens to people with diabetes (on medication) as well.

Diabetic Neuropathy-Pain

If someone has neuropathy in the feet, it means they loose feeling in their feet which may include tingling, pain or heat.  So if they step on a piece of glass and cut their foot, they do not feel the blood loss.  Same with CIPN.  All complications from diabetes is nerve loss, from the blindness to lower limb amputation.

In a nut shell, the nerves are being poisoned so essentially they are aging and dying.  The good news is it is possible that you can heal them if not too late…never too late to explore because who would really know if it is too late – your body is a miracle and if your Will is strong, there is a chance.

Let’s learn about how omegas grow back nerves.

The Effect of Mammalian Omega-3s on Diabetic NeuropathyWhy Omega 3s for the Nervous System

AI writes it just like I know it.

Omega-3 fatty acids play a crucial role in supporting nerve health, protecting against damage, and promoting recovery.

Neuroprotection and Nerve Regeneration: Research shows that omega-3s, particularly docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), help protect nerve cells from injury and enhance their ability to regenerate.  In mouse studies, high levels of omega-3s reduced nerve cell death after damage from stretching or oxygen starvation, accelerated recovery from sciatic nerve injury, and minimized muscle wasting. These effects are linked to reduced neuroinflammation, lower oxidative stress, and activation of cell survival pathways.

Mechanisms of Action:

  • Cell Membrane Integrity: DHA is a major structural component of neuronal membranes, maintaining fluidity and flexibility, which supports efficient signal transmission.

  • Synaptic Function: Omega-3s support synaptogenesis and neurotransmitter release, including serotonin and dopamine, which are vital for mood regulation and cognitive function.

  • Anti-inflammatory Effects: Omega-3s reduce pro-inflammatory molecules like TNF and cytokines, helping to combat chronic inflammation that can damage nerves over time.

Clinical Relevance: Omega-3 supplementation has shown potential in preventing and treating neuropathic pain and slowing cognitive decline.  Higher blood levels of EPA and DHA are associated with reduced gray matter atrophy and lower dementia risk in older adults. They may also help manage conditions like multiple sclerosis, depression, and ADHD.

Why Omega 3s and Nervous System

As a recap, a healthy balance of omega-3s will support the immune system (anti-inflammatory), part of every nerve structure (key in the myelin sheath – condition MS), part of every cell membrane (fatty acids, phospholipids).  It has been almost 20 years since I took a deep dive into the world of omegas.  My formal education emphases omegas for our better health but it goes further.  Not all omegas are created equal.

Auum Balance The Right Omega for the Right Result

Why Auum Omega 3s and Nervous System

Almost a decade ago, a research study out of the University of Toronto funded by the Canadian Diabetes Association and Auum Inc. (product used in study) was published.

Auum Omega 3s are mammalian base (harp seal) and shown to be absorbed sublingually (blind lady confirmed the pathway for me).  The seal is a mammal like us so the mammalian omega structure is like us.  Besides DHA and EPA, the seal oil contains another omega-3 called DPA.  Other differences include naturally toxic free and a balanced 1:1 omega-6 to omega-3 ratio.  Auum seal oil is not like the other seal oils on the market that are pharmaceutical grade/refined, it is essentially raw and therefore efficient and effective in its results.

It came to my attention years ago while at the unveiling of the research results below to doctors around the world, doctors cannot recommend nutraceuticals only drugs.  Some doctors do whisper therefore some participants were able to purchase more Auum.

Here are the research results:

Effect of omega-3 supplementation on neuropathy in type 1 diabetes: A 12-month pilot trial

Abstract

Objective: To test the hypothesis that 12 months of seal oil omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω-3 PUFA) supplementation will stop the known progression of diabetic sensorimotor polyneuropathy (DSP) in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).

Methods: Individuals with T1DM and evidence of DSP as determined by a Toronto Clinical Neuropathy Score ≥1 were recruited to participate in a single-arm, open-label trial of seal oil ω-3 PUFA supplementation (10 mL·d-1; 750 mg eicosapentaenoic acid, 560 mg docosapentaenoic acid, and 1,020 mg docosahexaenoic acid) for 1 year. The primary outcome was the 1-year change in corneal nerve fiber length (CNFL) measured by in vivo corneal confocal microscopy, with sensory and nerve conduction measures as secondary outcomes.

Results: Forty participants (53% female), aged 48 ± 14 years, body mass index 28.1 ± 5.8 with diabetes duration of 27 ± 18 years, were enrolled. At baseline, 23 participants had clinical DSP and 17 did not. Baseline CNFL was 8.3 ± 2.9 mm/mm2 and increased 29% to 10.1 ± 3.7 mm/mm2 (p = 0.002) after 12 months of supplementation. There was no change in nerve conduction or sensory function.

Conclusions: Twelve months of ω-3 supplementation was associated with increase in CNFL in T1DM.

About one of the Lead Researchers AI Generated [my comments]

Evan JH Lewis PhD was involved in a significant neuropathy research study presented at a conference in 2017 [I was at the same hotel when the presentation was given only in another room where Lewis gave the same presentation moments after]. The key event was the release of a clinical trial [research results] on seal oil omega-3 supplementation — product used was Auum omegas for diabetic neuropathy, which was published in Neurology, the Official Journal of the American Academy of Neurology, on June 13, 2017.

The study, led by Dr. Lewis and collaborators from the University Health Network, Leadership Sinai Centre for Diabetes, and the University of Toronto, showed that patients with type 1 diabetes experienced a 29% increase in corneal nerve fibre length [nerves grew back which is unheard of in the international neuropathy community] after 12 months of seal oil [Auum mammalian] omega-3 supplementation, indicating nerve regeneration.

This research was highlighted in a press release and media coverage, including by the Toronto Sun [no link to be found which doesn’t mean it wasn’t published], and was described as the first to show that targeted nutritional therapy could stop and reverse small fibre nerve damage in diabetes.

Choice Wellness

Auum Omega 3 was the product used in the above research that delivered the results of restored nerves and growth in the corneal (eye) nerve fibre length by 29% (one year study on two teaspoons of Auum Omega 3 – either of the products would provide the same benefits – contact me directly for subscription and/or savings).

It is easy to comprehend why the doctors did not include the product name as was initially intended.  Dr Evan Lewis (and others perhaps) created a new product after the glowing results.  I was not privy to the entire unfoldment but what matters most is the people with neuropathy and other chronic inflammation receive the knowledge about the possibilities and proper care.

All Auum customers are able to contact me to ask about cancer research and which product is best for them along with the suggested serving.  Full instructions are provided with any purchase and one may pickup at the Toronto Health Studio.

Why Doctors Do Not Recommend Auum Omegas for Neuropathy

The simple answer is, this product is not a drug.  It is a nutraceutical product with a NPN – Natural Product Number (Health Canada).  For the same reason, there was no standing ovation at the International Neuropathy 2017 Toronto conference.

Champion for your better health…

Before the age of 20, it never dawned on me that what I chose to put in my mouth would have such a dramatic effect on my well being.
On my path of discovery, I learned that our eating choices directly affected how much energy we have first thing in the morning or that it would build our immune system strength during flu season. Part of it was coming to understand how gentle nutritional cleansing directly helped overcome my health challenges. People keep telling me how beautiful my skin is or how I look younger.
As my studies continued, it became obvious that there is an intrinsic connection between the mind, body, and spirit which directly affects our health and happiness. Omegas are another critical piece of the wellness puzzle. The Auum omegas alone turned on some switches in my brain in just one day.
I have developed a deep appreciation for the wonderful miracle workers our bodies are in the recovery process.  Our bodies have natural intelligence.  I am passionate to share the connection between nutrition and wellness in my practice and my presentations.
